Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

Is HE2 available for Macintosh computers?
No. At this time, HE2 is only available for Windows based PCs.

What are the minimum system requirements for HE2?
We recommend Windows 98 or higher for the operating system. You will need a minimum of 360 MB of space on your hard drive for all of the HE2 files, plus additional space for your job data.

I have the original Hydronic Explorer installed on my PC. Will the installation of HE2 over write it?
No! HE2 installs as a separate program, with it's own icon on your desktop. Both versions are installed in the main Slant/Fin folder on your hard drive.

Does the installation of HE2 result in any files being written or modified in my PC's registry?
No, no files are written to or modifed in the registry.

How do I uninstall HE2 from my PC?
Since HE2 does not write or modify any files in the registry, you can simply delete the entire "SlantFin" folder from your hard drive using Windows Explorer. You may want to consider backing-up your job data before deleting the HE2 program (see Backing-up HE2 Job Data). Important note - If you have both the original Hydronic Explorer program and HE2 installed on your PC, you can delete either one of them by deleting the appropriate sub-folder in the main Slant/Fin folder on your hard drive. Deleting the entire Slant/Fin folder will delete both programs and all data that has not been backed-up.

Can I import HE2 job data from another computer, or send job data to someone else via email?
Yes! See Exporting and Importing Data in the HE2 User Manual.

Can I import my job data from HE1?
No. Only HE2 job data can be imported.

How do I access the radiant heating calculations screen?
On the Heatloss Express screen, at the bottom of the room column, click the red "0.0" next to "Radiant Tubing - ft. selected" to open the radiant floor heating calculations screen.

How does the update function work?
HE2 features an Internet update function to keep your copy up-to-date with the latest tweaks and revisions. To use this function, open the HE2 program and use the "Check For Updates" link in the upper right corner of the main menu page. If any updates are available, they will automatically be downloaded and installed in your copy of HE2. You will need to have your PC connected to the Internet for this function to work. After the updates are installed and the update window closes, HE2 will automatically restart. Some updates may require the downloading of large files, so please be patient during the update process.
